Captivate Theatre takes on the Sondheim classic Into the Woods at their new venue down at Edinburgh Academy in Stockbridge, with a production that is charming and ambitious.

An enduringly popular musical from the notoriously challenging composer, Into the Woods follows the story of a Baker and his Wife, desperate to have a child; the Witch next door who cursed the Baker’s “family tree to always be a barren one” and who sets the pair a quest in order to break her curse; and the other inhabitants of this fairytale land whose stories are caught up along the way.

All rise for the UK & Ireland tour of  To Kill a Mockingbird , Aaron Sorkin’s incisive adaptation of Harper Lee’s epochal novel at the Festival Theatre all week, and the Glasgow King’s for the first week in November. Set in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama, in the early 1930s, To Kill a Mockingbird centres around the trial of Tom Robinson, a black man falsely accused of rape by a young white woman, and the lawyer, Atticus Finch, appointed to defend him against an all-white jury and the threat of the electric chair if convicted Richard Coyle (Atticus Finch) and Aaron Shosanya (Tom Robinson), with the To Kill A Mockingbird cast.
